Many towns have a [[Weihnachtsmarkt]] (also called  Christkindlmarkt) during Advent. The largest is in Nuremberg, where there has been a market since the middle of the 16th century. Various Christmas items are on sale at the [[Weihnachtsmarkt]]: tree decorations, baking utensils for traditional biscuits and cakes, carved wooden nativity scenes and  Weihnachtspyramiden -- miniature carousels turned by a wheel which catches the warm air from candles below.
